About the magazine

People of Theatre isn’t your typical theatre magazine. It’s radical, independent, and deeply rooted in community. No star ratings. No celebrity interviews. No industry fluff.

It’s a space for bold, thoughtful perspectives; especially now, when mainstream narratives fall short and social media exhausts us.

Each issue brings together artists, writers, and thinkers who use theatre to question class, race, queerness, power, joy, grief, and more. Work that’s political, personal, and cuts deep.

If this speaks to you, I’d love you to be part of it. We’re close to 1,000 annual subscribers now; and it’s turning into a truly beautiful Theatre Fam.

What We’re Looking For

I’m opening up our Creative Writing section for a wide range of bold, genre-bending work; pieces that feel alive on the page and speak to the world we’re in.

Send pitches (or finished work) for:

  • Play excerpts (must be from a mature stage of the process — not first drafts)
  • Poems
  • Rap / spoken word / lyrics
  • Short stories
  • Narrative illustration / visual storytelling
  • Essay photography / photo essays
  • Multidisciplinary work — hybrids that mix text + images + multimedia (links welcome)

I’m especially drawn to work that’s emotionally emotionally truthful and fearlesspolitically awake, surprising, tender, messy, funny, sharp; whatever your truth is, as long as it’s intentional.

Deadline: 25 January 2026
